A.W.M. AND HANWHA: A SUCCESSFUL ONGOING COOPERATION
The Bismayah precast concrete plant is running very well and first residents have moved to live in Bismayah New City.
Bismayah has been described as a dream come true and it is not a coincidence that its name means “Dream City”. Its realization is a mission to which Hanwha E&C has been entrusted by the Government of Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC) to support Iraq in a reconstruction process. This project will bring life to an ideal city both in terms of modern architecture and services.
The city consists of 8 towns, each divided into several blocks containing many buildings (residential towers) which grow vertically, for a total of 100,000 apartments to accommodate more than 600,000 persons.
To get an idea of the grandeur of Bismayah, just consider the quantity of materials used for a single tower, which holds approximately 120 apartments. Each tower, indeed, needs about 3948 m3 of concrete, 213 tonnes of steel rebar and 44,4 tonnes of pre-stressed tendons.
We at AWM are increasingly proud that our machines are contributing substantially to realize this project.
Here are some pictures showing how the plan is proceeding:
